Filipina tennis sensation Alexandra Eala delivered an impressive performance in her debut at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz tournament, defeating Austria’s Julia Grabher in straight sets, 6–4, 6–3, on Tuesday, April 7.
Backed by a lively crowd of Filipino supporters who traveled from across Austria and neighboring countries, Eala showcased composure and precision beyond her years. The 20-year-old controlled the tempo of the match with consistent baseline play and timely winners, overcoming early resistance from Grabher to secure the victory in just under two hours.

The atmosphere inside the venue was electric, with chants and cheers echoing throughout as Eala sealed match point—marking a strong start to her campaign in one of Europe’s prominent indoor tournaments.
With momentum on her side, Eala now faces a tougher challenge in the next round as she takes on fourth-seeded Latvian Jelena Ostapenko. Known for her aggressive style and powerful groundstrokes, Ostapenko will test Eala’s resilience and tactical discipline.
Their highly anticipated matchup is scheduled for center court on Wednesday, April 8. The day’s play begins at 12:00 PM, with Eala and Ostapenko set to follow in the second match of the session.
Eala will be aiming to extend her winning streak and continue her breakthrough run in Linz, while fans—both local and international—eagerly await what promises to be a thrilling contest.
